View of Bridal Veil Falls just north of Portland, OR. This hour long water color study came out of a cold afternoon, sitting in the shade of the falls, tourists passing by, I was listening to the birds and the white din from the water crashing on the rocks below the frame. I exaggerated the colors in the cliff face, but not by much, trying to work the compliment of orange and blue with some verdant greens and dark spots. This photo can’t come close to depicting the sheer scale of the thing; those are mature pines on the bluff, the falls descend hundreds of feet. I felt justifiably small and quite blissed out.
